Due to increased demand, entries are now open for what the organisers purport to be the world’s biggest decoration competition, taking place during Cake International in Birmingham, UK, from 4-6 November.
According to organisers ICHF Events, the number of entries this year is expected to tip over 1,000, with competitors flying in from across the globe. Previous years have seen entries from as far as Indonesia, India, China, Argentina, South Korea and the US.
The competition is broken into a wide range of categories, from beginners, to tiered cakes, delicate sugar flower creations and 3D cookies, among others.
“From jaw-dropping giant cake creations to delicate floral work and wedding cakes, competitors from across the globe will be working hard to achieve the most beautiful and creative works of art,” said Melanie Underwood, head of Cake International & Bake International.
“The judging process is like no other cake competition, with a huge team of highly trained judges. The Best in Show winner will walk away with a trophy and £2,500, the largest cash prize in Europe for this type of competition. For any cake decorating enthusiast, from beginner to expert, this is the competition to take part in.”
Headline sponsors
Cake International has also announced the headline sponsor for 2022.
