This is not your average Star Wars cake! The Food Network’s Buddy vs Duff 2 challenge, featuring Buddy Valastro of Cake Boss and Duff Goldman of Ace of Cakes, filmed its season finale at Disneyland Park’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The celebrity baker duo faced an out-of-the-world challenge: To create a cake celebrating Star Wars Day on May the 4th. To get inspiration for their galactic treats, both Buddy and Duff visited Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland.
The Food Network stars got to enjoy the full Batuu experience, dining at Docking Bay 7, visiting the Droid Depot to make their own R2 unit or BB unit droid companions, and building lightsabers at Savi’s Workshop. They also experienced both of Star Wars land’s attractions when they rode the immensely popular Rise of the Resistance ride and Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
Clearly taken with Han Solo and Chewbacca’s famous starship, Buddy the Cake Boss opted to create an 8-foot-long replica of the Millennium Falcon for his Star Wars Day cake.
Photos that preview tonight’s Buddy vs Duff 2 season finale show the series’ judges looking over an impressively realistic looking dessert. The Falcon cake replica features a quad laser cannon, a sensor dish, and scorch marks made by all of the blasters its pilots have encountered on their runs.
In other words, it’s just like the real thing, except with fondant and frosting! No word yet on whether or not the sculpted cake has functional hyperdrive.
To see if the “fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy” wins Buddy vs Duff 2, tune into the Food Network tonight, May 3rd, at 9 PM EST for a 90-minute cake baking showdown. Star Wars fans won’t want to miss out, as the season finale is set to be hosted by Lando Calrissian himself, actor Billy Dee Williams.
Will you be watching Buddy vs Duff 2 to check out the amazing Millennium Falcon cake and to see what type of Star Wars cake Goldman creates? We can’t wait!
