Modern pickups are bigger and more powerful than ever. In the never-ending race for dominance, manufacturers up their game each year and deliver better iterations of their trucks than ever before. Of course, this comes with a cost. Modern pickups are now more expensive than ever, with the average new truck sitting at over $50,000.
That might seem a lot to many buyers, but the truth is it's a mere drop in the ocean compared to the most expensive trucks in the world. Whether they're all-terrain monsters or dripping in diamonds, it seems there have never been more options for buying a super expensive pickup. These trucks really take the cake for asking price, in fact, they're the most costly pickups out there right now.
8 Mercedes-AMG G63 6x6 Brabus - $1,000,000
When the long-running Mercedes-Benz G Wagen began to skyrocket in popularity with wealthy celebrities and businessmen, Mercedes added a number of new features to capitalize on this new interest. Mostly that revolved around making the interior more luxurious or updating the truck's bus-like handling.
One of their most extreme modifications was giving it an extra pair of wheels. The 6x6 is by far the craziest looking G Class made, and after being tuned by Brabus it's surprisingly fast too. These limited-edition monsters pack 700 hp and cost a cool $1 million.
7 Mercedes-Benz Unimog - $250,000
For unstoppable 4x4s, there isn't much that can beat a Unimog. They're a favorite in tough conditions all around the world for their modular construction that means they can be configured in whatever way their owner desires. However, anyone who wants a Unimog for their own adventures had better have deep pockets.
Mercedes keeps exact pricing confidential but depending on spec, a basic model will cost around $250,000. Unfortunately for American buyers, Merc doesn't sell the Mog new in the US anymore, although it's still possible to import an older one through the 25-year rule.
6 Ford F-650 SuperTruck - $125,000
Anyone who's a full seven feet tall is going to have difficulty fitting inside a normal car, so it's no surprise that superstar athlete Shaq recently bought an F-650. Built in collaboration with SuperTruck, the consumer F-650 takes the commercial chassis and turns it into a huge pickup, complete with leather interior and heated seats.
Prices for one of these trucks vary depending on spec, but it's thought that Shaq's truck cost around $125,000. It's difficult to make the big pickups on the road today look small, but the giant F-650 SuperTruck somehow manages it.
5 Rezvani Hercules 6x6 - $325,000
American luxury truck maker Rezvani is headquartered in California, which is where most of their sales come from. Popular with the likes of rappers and athletes looking to have the most fearsome-looking truck, the Hercules is the brand's pickup option.
Base-spec Hercules' can be had for just $225,000 but most buyers will opt for the $325,000 Military Edition. The truck has all sorts of over-the-top features like bulletproof glass and a thermal night vision system, but being realistic it'll probably only ever be used to cruise around the wealthiest corners of LA. It's all about the bragging rights really.
4 Lamborghini LM002 - $393,000
Originally built as a military truck, the Lamborghini LM002 eventually found limited success as a civilian SUV. In many ways, it was way ahead of its time, as has been proved recently with the roaring success of the Urus SUV.
The LM002 did actually feature a small pickup bed, although it was primarily built as a people-carrying truck. Today examples very rarely come on the market, but one recently surfaced with an asking price of £285,000 ($393,000).
3 Terradyne Gurkha Pickup - $325,000
Built by the Canadian manufacturer Terradyne, the Gurkha is a crazy tactical armored vehicle that absolutely zero normal people would ever find a use for. Even so, several buyers have purchased their own, making this one of the most insane road-legal vehicles on the market right now.
The Gurkha makes use of a 6.7L turbo diesel to produce 330 hp, which given the weight of the truck still makes it very slow. Not that that really matters given that this thing is armor-plated to within an inch of its life. Prices are on asking but one was listed online in 2017 for $325,000.
2 Hummer H1 - $135,000
Hummer's H1 is the civilian version of the Humvee, the iconic US Military vehicle. There isn't too much that's been changed between the military and civilian ones, so it's certainly a capable truck. It's also an expensive one, with many sellers now asking around $135,000 for vehicles.
Granted, those are usually modified to make them even more off-road capable, but even standard models will still be tens of thousands more expensive than a top-spec new pickup. Not that there's anything on the market quite like the Hummer right now. The brand has been recently revived for a new EV model, and that's available for a starting price of just $80,000.
1 Dartz Prombrom - $1,250,000
Based out of Latvia, Dartz specializes in making the most outrageous SUVs and trucks possible. They got in trouble years ago for making seats out of the genitalia of a whale, and since then haven't stopped being certifiably unhinged.
Their Prombrom model has been available for purchase in several different guises, but the most expensive was the Monaco Red Diamond Edition which was unveiled in 2010 and cost $1.25 million. For that, owners got trucks dripping with valuable jewels including diamond-encrusted gauges and gold-plated windows.
