Vehicle expenses are costly no matter where you live, but some cities will hurt your wallet more than others.
An analysis from The Zebra sought to determine the most and least expensive U.S. cities for car ownership, weighing average costs of car insurance, gas and toll roads.
Researchers also analyzed the amount of auto loan debt residents carry compared to the median income, as well as parking expenses for two hours in a garage.
For comparison, the national average cost of auto insurance in 2019 was $1,548. In the most expensive city for car ownership, auto insurance averages $2,126.
