BEVERLY HILLS, CA — If you happen to have a spare $160 million lying around, you may be in the market to buy the single most expensive home ever auctioned — anywhere.
The Beverly Hills mega-mansion, known as Villa Firenze, was originally listed in 2018 for a reported $165 million, and has stayed on the market since. It will be auctioned next month by Concierge Auctions for the suggested price of $160 million, but savvy buyers might be able to get away with paying - well, what's still the gross domestic product of a small island.
Owned by Air Lease Corporation CEO Steven Udvar-Hazy, Villa Firenze is located over nine acres on its very own street in Beverly Park, a gated community home to celebrities like Denzel Washington, Sylvester Stallone, and Eddie Murphy.
"We look forward to finding an owner as unique as this piece of real estate on auction day," Udvar-Hazy, a Hungarian immigrant with an estimated net worth of $4 billion, said in a statement.
The home, built over five years by architect William Hablinski, features two guest houses, a tennis court, pool, pool house, 30-car courtyard, and 20,000 square feet of marble, stone, the sort of the luxury one might expect from the single most expensive home ever auctioned.
The previous record was set in 2015, when a 30,o00 square-foot oceanfront mansion in Hillsboro Beach, Florida known as Playa Vista Isle was listed for $159 million. It sold at auction with Carnegie Auctions for just $42.5 million, according to CNBC.
