PHILADELPHIA SUBURBS, — Sales of homes a million dollars or more soared in the third quarter of 2020, breaking a new record by a "huge" margin, according to experts.
The report prepared by Drexel University's Lindy Institute for Urban Studies says there were 470 home sales at a price of one million dollars or more across the region in the third quarter, with 90 percent of them occurring in the suburbs.
We took a peek into those listings, and have pulled up the priciest home in each of the four counties that make up the Philadelphia suburbs. Here is the most expensive homes currently for sale in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties:
Details: Finale Farm is described in the listing as "one of Bucks County's most exceptional estate homes." The property, surrounded by 33 acres, began as a very early Colonial log structure and grew into a manor house with additions completed in 1719 and later. It now boasts more than 6,300-square-feet of living space.
Details: Once owned by a founding Quaker, the property known as Rock Hill Farm is set upon 222 acres in Chester County. It features a 14,000-square-foot main house along with five secondary homes, plus a two-story stone stable, a large barn and three greenhouses.
DELAWARE
Price: $13.9M
Details: This 17-acre estate is located 30 minutes from Philadelphia. According to the listing, it was once a prized piece of Ardrossan, the "most extraordinary" estate on the Main Line. It is now known as Albermarle, and is a collection of "masterfully" restored and expanded, English-style stone buildings set behind a gated entry. It feels like your own 21st-century village, the listing says.
MONTGOMERY
Price: $23.9M
Details: The property, known as Linden Hill, was designed between 1928 and 1931 by Edmund B. Gilchrist for stockbroker Rodman Ellison Griscom. It was then owned for more than 50 years by the Dorrance family of Campbell's Soup Company. Described in the listing as "a majestic example of French Normandy-inspired design of breathtaking scale and symmetry," it features nearly 14,500-square feet of living space.
