A sprawling coastal estate in North Hampton, New Hampshire, that offers equestrian, agricultural and aquatic opportunities, in addition to a New England shingle-style main residence, has come onto the market for $24.95 million, making it the state’s most expensive home for sale.
The estate, encompassing five individual parcels, totals 48 acres with an additional 10 acres of grazing rights. It includes a main house, a guest house, a carriage house, a 12-stall barn and other outbuildings, according to listing agent Tony Jalbert of Sotheby’s International Realty.
The offering includes the historic Runnymede Farm, owned by Alvan T. Fuller (1878-1958), governor of Massachusetts from 1925-29, according to Mr. Jalbert.
Fuller’s son, Peter, bred and owned thoroughbred horses on the farm, including Dancer's Image and Mom's Command. Dancer's Image won the 1968 Kentucky Derby, but became the first ever to be disqualified because after it was discovered the horse had traces of phenylbutazone in its system. Mom's Command won 11 out of her 16 races and was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in 2007.
The Fullers sold the property in 1998, property records show.
Current owners, Alan and Donna Perkins, who could not be reached for comment, worked on the property for more than 20 years to “make it a family compound that offers a unique and multifaceted lifestyle unlike anywhere in the Northeast,” Mr. Jalbert said.
Designed in 2003 in New England coastal shingle style, the main house stands on approximately nine acres and has 8,500 square feet of living space, with five bedrooms and five full bathrooms. A great room and the kitchen are joined by antique-style limestone floor tiles, and custom fitted with antique cabinetry, according to the listing, posted late in February.
“The home features five majestic fireplaces, two of which are made out of stone and rise to the ceiling,” Mr. Jalbert said. “Throughout, soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows offer expansive views of the Atlantic ocean, rivers, rolling meadows and pastures.”
The property is the most expensive home on the market in New Hampshire. Previously, the highest-priced listing for the state was a $10 million home with 430 feet of frontage on Lake Winnipesaukee, which asked $16 million in 2016.
