SAGINAW, MI – Heidi’s Darn Good Cookies in Saginaw County’s Kochville Township offers ice cream cookie sandwiches to satisfy your sweet tooth and help you beat the summer heat.
These sweet, cold and creamy treats are available in nearly 20 flavors, including M & M, unicorn, Snickers, blue moon, red velvet, s’mores, snickerdoodle, birthday cake, cookies and cream, Superman and more. They’re priced at $6 and large enough to share.
“They’re huge,” said business owner Heidi Niernberg, noting that each cookie is made with a third cup of dough, and each cookie sandwich is five to six inches thick. “They’re easily sharable.”
The reaction she often hears from customers seeing them for the first time is simply, “wow.”
Business owner Heidi Niernberg said her nephews help her develop new flavor combinations.
“We have over 50 flavors of cookies that rotate on a daily basis so the possibilities are really endless,” Niernberg said. “The blue moon cookies have blue moon ice cream in them. The Superman cookies have Superman ice cream. Our chocolate mint cookies have mint chocolate chip ice cream.”
Two top-selling flavors are Reese’s and birthday cake. Those “are the hardest to keep in stock,” she said.
Looking for something to share with a group or to serve at a party? Heidi’s ice cream cookie pizzas – 10-inch round cookies topped with ice cream, bordered with frosting and sprinkled with candy – are $20 and serve about eight to 10 people.
Heidi’s can also create custom frosting colors to match the themes for special events, such as weddings or graduation parties.
For special orders, “we prefer a 48-hour notice, but we can make miracles happen,” Niernberg said.
Niernberg wished to thank her customers for their continued support.
“We’re thankful,” she said. “We’re very thankful to have a very loyal customer base.”
Heidi’s Darn Good Cookies, a gourmet cookie bakery established in 2017, is located at 2903 Pierce Road in Saginaw County’s Kochville Township, near the campus of Saginaw Valley State University. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
