North Carolina is home to some of the hottest real estate markets, according to a study from Wallet Hub. Many of the most expensive homes on the market right now have more than doubled their value, data from Zillow shows.
Here's a look at some of the most expensive homes for sale in North Carolina in September.
Corolla
This 9-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion is sitting right on the ocean and for sale for $11 million. The home's Zillow listing says it has cathedral ceilings, a sauna and a tiki bar.
The home is nearly 11,000 square feet and has an outdoor pool and a secluded ocean front.
The 3-story home has an elegant design with large wrap-around porches.
According to Twiddy, you can also rent the mansion for anywhere from $5,775 to $8,250 a week. For the week of June 25 through July 2, the home is $30,745 each week. That's only a little less than the median income for Currituck County.
Durham
One of the most expensive Durham homes right now is listed for sale in the Hills of Rosemont. The country manor is more than 15,000 square feet and you can buy it for $6.9 million.
The home, built in 2006, has five bedrooms, nine bathrooms and more than 12 acres of property.
The modern design features elegant stone and slate on the inside and outside.
"Lush flora and a cascading wall fountain near the entry portico balance the home’s striking façade of heavy Pennsylvania stone, Vermont slate roof and porte cochère," according to Sotheby's International Reality.
Asheville
It's a sellers market in Asheville right now, and buying a luxury home could be more expensive than normal. The price of this historic home rose by thousands of dollars over the past couple months, according to Zillow.
Now, this mansion with a 4.4 acre golf course and a view of the Pisgah mountains is selling for more than $9.7 million.
On the property there is a greenhouse, pool and carriage house. The magnificent home features 10 bedrooms, a copper slipper tub and a mirrored sunroom, according to Beverly-Hanks & Associates.
Several other mansions were listed in the Biltmore Forest this month. In January 2020, a home on Vanderbuilt Road was estimated to be valued at $2.1 million. Now it's listed for nearly $9 million.
The newly-built home was designed in 2019 by a local architect, according to a Zillow listing. It has six bedrooms and eight bathrooms and sits on a private golf course.
Scaly Mountain
A stone country estate in western North Carolina, near the town of Highlands, is listed for $8.9 million.
The mansion rests on more than 36 acres of land and has a stunning view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Inside the home, there are five wood burning fireplaces and pegged oak floors to give it that cottage feel, according to a Zillow listing.
The 4,406 foot home has six bedrooms and nine bathrooms. Since the summer, the price of the home has increased by $55,000.
