MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – The owner of a Canadian trucking company said one of his trailers was stolen in South Florida.
Andy Stieva, owner of Andy Stieva Trucking Company, said a 53-foot refrigerated trailer that was ready to take a delivery of flowers went missing Tuesday night.
Stieva told Local 10 News one of his truck drivers arrived at the loading docks off Northwest 36th Street and 67th Avenue around 11:30 p.m., but the giant white trailer, with the company logo on the sides, was gone.
“It wasn’t loaded, no,” he said.
The truck’s GPS tracking device reportedly showed it several miles away in Medley, off Northwest South River Drive, but when the driver checked the area, the truck was gone.
The tracking device has since stopped showing its location, according to Stieva, so it might have been disabled or destroyed.
“It’s terrible. Because, one...you can’t replace trailers right now,” he said. “It’s a major problem.”
Medley police were called the next day, and a spokesperson said officers scoured the area and spoke to nearby business owners, but found no sign of the trailer.
Stieva said Miami-Dade police are investigating. He said he is offering a monetary reward for the return of the trailer.
“Please return it. Just drop it off where you picked it up,” he said.
