We haven't stopped fawning over that portrait of Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, which was released early last week in honor of her first birthday. And while we loved the glimpse at baby Lili (and her gorgeous red hair!), now we've got a look at the intricate cake that was designed for her party too.
The two-tiered, floral-covered dessert was constructed by Claire Ptak through her baking company, Violet Cakes London. The baker, who also designed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding cake back in 2018, shared a snap of the cake on her Instagram, where she gave all the details on the dessert (and seemingly revealed one of baby Lili's favorite flavors along the way).
In her caption, Ptak wrote, “The inside was the Amalfi lemon and elderflower cake I created for the Duke and Duchess’s wedding in 2018, but this time we covered it with a strawberry buttercream specially for Lilibet.”
Back when Ptak was chosen to make the duke and duchess's wedding cake, she talked about the honor in a statement that was released by Kensington Palace, where she said, “I can’t tell you how delighted I am to be chosen to make Prince Harry and Ms. Markle’s wedding cake. Knowing that they really share the same values as I do about food provenance, sustainability, seasonality, and most importantly flavor, makes this the most exciting event to be a part of.”
The baker recently reposted an image of the wedding dessert on her Instagram in honor of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's anniversary.
