Ice cream cakes are for any season, but may just be perfect for that summer birthday around the corner. We compiled a list of local ice cream shops that have ready to go cakes or can make you a custom one.

MERIDEN

Cold Stone Creamery, 490 S. Broad St.

The ice cream shop has a variety of ready for pickup cakes, as well as the option to custom order. The ready made options include “cake batter confetti” with red velvet cake and cake batter ice cream, and “tall, dark & delicious” with layers of devil’s food cake, sweet cream ice cream with brownies and chocolate ice cream with Oreo cookies.

Ice cream cakes can be customized by each detail, including size, flavor, cake layers, mix-ins and more.

You can also get ice cream cupcakes in a six pack, which can be an assortment or customized.

WALLINGFORD

Mr. D’s, 50 N. Main St.

Mr. D’s has 9 inch cakes in mint chip, “classic,” “nightmare,” and Oreo. The pre-made section also includes ice cream cakes layered with regular cake or gluten-free cake. They can also customize cakes in a variety of sizes and dozens of ice cream flavors.

Banana’s Ice Cream, 1122 N. Colony Rd.

You can custom order an ice cream cake primarily by ice cream flavor. Flavors include the classics like vanilla and chocolate, plus others like crazy mocha monkey, peanut butter cloud, banana blast, cotton candy and more.

SOUTHINGTON

Praline’s

Traditional ice cream cakes are made in various sizes ready to go. The traditional cakes are a layer of vanilla ice cream, a layer of chocolate cookie crunch and a layer of chocolate ice cream. The fudge cakes are the traditional cake covered entirely with fudge and chocolate sprinkles.

Custom cakes can be made in a variety of sizes and flavors. You can pick from the ice cream toppings to add to the center layer of the cake or on top, like sprinkles or peanut butter cups.

CHESHIRE

Sweet Claude’s Ice Cream

The shop keeps a variety of ready to go small, square and large cakes stocked. Custom ice cream cakes can be made in round, square or sheet sizes and decorated for the occasion. Three days notice is needed for custom cakes.
