WEST VILLAGE, NY — It's challenging to earn the "most expensive" status for anything in New York City, but the 10014 zip code was recently crowned the most expensive for home prices in New York City for the first half of 2020.
The 10014 zip code, which encompasses the West Village, Greenwich Village, and a small section of SoHo, landed the No. 1 spot as the most expensive area for housing in New York City, according to a recent study from Amast.
The median sale price for a home from January to June of 2020 in the zip code was $4,241,500, according to the online construction marketplace.
The figure is a staggering $1.4 million more than the next priciest New York City zip code.
The most expensive real estate sale in the West Village zip code for the first half of 2020 was a $19 million penthouse at 275 West 10th Street, according to Amast. The second most expensive sale was a $15 million condo, and five other deals in the zip code surpassed $10 million.
Compared to the first half of 2019, the median home sale price in the 10014 zip code grew 82 percent, which took it from the eighth most expensive zip code in New York City to the first, according to Amast.
The 82 percent gain was by far the most significant year-over-year change out of the 100 New York City zip codes ranked.
Manhattan was home to the top 11 most expensive zip codes for housing in the first half of 2020.
Here are the top ten most expensive zip codes for median home sale prices for the first six months of 2020 in New York City, according to Amast:
