The James Bond franchise has featured numerous four-wheeled beauties over the years. Understandably, there has been some bias towards the Aston Martin brand, given the agreement with the producers. However, plenty of other car manufacturers have watched in glee or horror as Bond and the villains drove and destroyed their best creations.
Nothing comes cheap in the world of 007. Even though Bond's salary might not be enough to make him afford a decent apartment, he has been able to drive the most expensive cars, thanks to taxpayer money. MI6 has not only provided Bond with VIP access to galas but also some of the coolest rides on Earth. Such are the perks that come with a government intelligence agency.
10 Jaguar XKR - $100,000
It's arguably the most advanced car ever driven by a Bond baddie. In Die Another Day, the North Korean intelligence operative Zao goes after Bond on a frozen lake while driving his bright green Jaguar XKR. Despite Bond's car being invisible, Zao is able to spot him using the Jaguar's thermal imaging camera.
The car's stunning features include studded tires, ramming spikes, motor bombs, missiles, and a Gatling gun. Despite the cold, Zao doesn't care about pulling up the roof of the convertible car. The model is available for purchase on numerous platforms.
9 Aston Martin V12 Vanquish - $119,999
Bond's ride from Die Another Day has been nicknamed the "Aston Martin Vanish" by fans. This is because, in the movie, it has adaptive camouflage features, rendering it invisible to the naked eye.
The car is heavily featured in the ice segments of the movie, including the memorable chase sequence with Zao. It has a couple of refinements such as ejector seats, front-firing rockets, and hood-mounted shotguns. In the market, such a car can be acquired for the sum stated above.
8 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III - $150,000
Auric Goldfinger ranks highly among the most lavish Bond villains of all time. Unlike his fellow baddies, he expects Bond to die, not to talk. A man who has so much gold at his disposal is also guaranteed to have a cool ride. The villain owns a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III with the registration number AU 1, meaning Auric 1.
In the movie, Goldfinger melts tons of gold into the vehicle’s bodywork in order to sneak it into Switzerland. Classic car lovers can get their hands on the car, without the gold of course.
7 BMW Z8 - $250,000
Bond makes good use of the Z8 in The World Is Not Enough before it's sliced in half by a chopper equipped with giant saws. It's the only time the MI6 agent appears concerned about a car being damaged.
The car is packed with ground-to-air missiles. According to Q, it can also be controlled remotely with a key chain, making it the perfect toy for any car lover. The Z8 was extremely popular at the time of its release, with BMW making 5,703 units. Any person seeking to acquire one now can get it for $250,000.
6 Aston Martin DBS V12 - $316,000
Bond drives the DBS V12 in Casino Royale as he pursues the villain Le Chiffre. The car is destroyed when he swerves to avoid hitting his love interest, Vesper Lynd. The MI6 drives the same model again in the impressive opening sequence of Quantum Of Solace. The car takes hundreds of bullets during a high-speed chase around Lake Garda but it keeps going.
The DBS V12 has no notable gadgets. However, it has reinforced chassis to withstand damage. Despite the car taking several bullets, Mr. White, who Bond is ferrying, remains unharmed in the trunk. The DBS V12 can be acquired for a little over $300,000.
5 Toyota GT2000 - $1 Million
Daniel Craig has confessed that this is his favorite car from the Bond franchise, not any Aston Martin. The supercar is driven by Sean Connery's Bond and Japanese Secret Service agent Aki in You Only Live Twice.
Only two prototypes of the convertible car were built for use in the film. No others were ever manufactured. It's also the only Toyota to ever be used in the Bond franchise. Anyone seeking to purchase it can get it straight from eBay.
4 1977 Lotus Esprit - $1 Million
It's impossible to forget Bond's amphibious car in The Spy Who Loved Me. The British spy uses it to dodge several of Stromberg's henchmen including the infamous Jaws. When there is no more road to maneuver, Bond drives it right into the ocean where the car turns into a mini-submarine.
Apart from being able to move in water, the Lotus is equipped with missile launchers. Bond fires one from inside the ocean to destroy a helicopter that's scanning the water for him. The exact car used in the movie was bought by Tesla founder Elon Musk in 2013.
3 Jaguar C-X75 - $1.2 Million
Mr. Hinx (Dave Bautista) is perhaps the most affluent henchman in the Bond franchise. He owns the most expensive car in the franchise that's not driven by Bond.
The car is first seen when Bond tries to escape from the SPECTRE meeting in Rome after Blofeld singles him out. Mr, Hinx, who has just killed a colleague and taken his place, gets into his Jaguar and pursues Bond. He doesn't catch him, despite Bond's car having a top speed of 193 mph while his Jaguar has a top speed of 200 mph.
2 Aston Martin DB10 - $3.5 Million
The DB10 is the first car to be designed by Aston Martin specifically for a Bond movie. It makes its appearance in Spectre. Initially meant for Agent 009, Bond falls in love with it and steals it from Q's workshop. He uses it in an epic chase scene in the streets of Rome with the henchman Mr. Hinx.
Bond's stolen DB10 comes equipped with twin flamethrowers located in the exhausts. It also has a rear machine gun and an ejector seat. The only reported sale of the DB10 happened a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, it isn't road legal and can only be driven on a private track.
1 Aston Martin DB5 - $4.6 Million
The BD5 is more synonymous with the Bond franchise than any other car. It has been driven by Agent 007 in 8 different movies. The car also appears in the different trailers for No Time To Die, meaning by the time the movie is released, it will have made 9 appearances.
Bond's DB5 isn't like the ordinary man's DB5. It's always decked with advanced weapons and gadgetry. There are ejector seats, tire shredders, GPS mapping systems, and buttons deploying smoke and nails. The car is extremely rare in the market. It recently sold at a London auction for a whopping $4.6 million.
