Once San Francisco’s priciest listing at $28.5 million, a historic 16,000-square-foot mansion sold for $17.45 million last month, according to property records just made publicly available.
In addition to being more than $10 million less than its original 2016 price tag, it's also a 16.9% discount from its most recent listing price of $21 million, records show.
Located in the upscale Cow Hollow neighborhood, the seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom residence was built in 1905. Inspired by Italian villas, the home has been “lovingly restored and renovated,” according to the listing.
The sellers, Ken and Dorothy Paige of San Francisco’s Paige Glass Co., purchased the mansion in 2005 for $6.75 million, PropertyShark records show. The couple oversaw a revitalization of the home that updated amenities while retaining “the elegance and beauty of the classic era,” according to the listing.
That includes ornate carved ceilings, white marble floors and a Tiffany fountain, the listing said. There’s also a skylight by the famous glass maker over the curving marble staircase.
Additional features of the residence include a reception hall, formal dining and living rooms, a grand foyer, seven en-suite bedrooms, a library, a gym, a media room, an elevator, cast bronze balconies, five marble terraces, seven fireplaces and additional quarters for staff, the listing said. There are also irrigated gardens and a gated driveway with parking, plus a four-car garage.
The mansion was San Francisco's Decorator Showcase for 2008, according to the organization, which plans the annual design event and benefit.
