A T206 Honus Wagner baseball card sold for $3,751,500 Saturday, a record for the card in any condition and part of a record-breaking multi-million dollar sports card sales day.
According to Goldin Auctions, the Wagner sale was the highest-ever for that card, and was the fifth-most expensive card sale of all-time. Included in Saturday’s sales was a $2,103,300 sale of a 1997 Upper Deck Michael Jordan card — an all-time record for a Jordan card —and record sales for cards of Derek Jeter ($492,000), Gordie Howe ($210,330) and a combo card of Larry Bird, Julius Irving and Magic Johnson ($553,500) from a Topps 1980 collection.
