The most expensive house in the world isn't a sprawling mansion tucked away in the countryside. Antilia is a 568-foot skyscraper in the heart of Mumbai, India. In addition to being the priciest private home on Earth, it's also the world's biggest.

According to Architectural Digest, Antilia is owned by Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries and the richest person in India. Valued between $1 and $2 billion, the residential home is second only to London's Buckingham Place in price. The Queen's estate is technically government property, however, so that makes Antilia the most valuable privately owned residence on Earth.

The building's size is just as impressive as its worth. Thanks to the luxurious high ceilings, the 27-floor mansion is as tall as a typical 60-story high-rise. The top six floors are used as a private home for Ambani and his family. Elsewhere, the house features guest suites, a temple, an ice cream parlor, a spa, a ballroom, a movie theater, and a six-floor garage. The most unusual feature may be the snow room. It's pumped with artificial snow and kept at freezing temperatures, making it a cool retreat during oppressive Mumbai summers. The floor plan adds up to 400,000 square feet total.
