Earlier this year, the center was used to keep residents warm when the temperature dropped below 40 degrees Fahrenheit or if there was more than a 50 percent chance of precipitation. This year, organizations like the Salvation Army will also be assisting with warming centers in inclement weather, said Mie Lucas, Augusta-Richmond County’s Deputy Director of EMA.
