We feel like we only had time to blink since the last royal wedding, and now we’re faced with another one? That’s right: Princess Eugenie is getting married this Friday, hot on the heels of her cousin Prince Harry.
Her fiancée is named Jack Brooksbank, the venue is the same location where Harry and Meghan recently tied the knot (St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle), and there’ll be cake!
Kensington Palace revealed that the wedding cake will be red velvet and chocolate; it will, they say, be a “traditional cake, with a modern feel.”
The royal baker is London’s Sophie Cabot, and she is delighted to be baking the cake for Eugenie and Jack’s big day.
“I am incredibly excited to be given this wonderful opportunity to create such a special and unique cake,” she told HELLO!
“It has been lovely working with Princess Eugenie and Jack and I really hope they enjoy the cake on the day.”
The cake’s sugar decorations of ivy will “incorporate the rich colors of autumn” and will all be painstakingly made by hand.
“Sophie’s artistic skills and flair come through in her creations, with a particular love for making sugar-flowers and using her hand-painting skills to create unique cakes,” the palace said.
Harry and Meghan also chose a seasonally themed cake for their May wedding—a lemon and elderflower creation intended to convey “the bright flavors of spring” and decorated all over with fresh flowers.
Eugenie and Jack’s wedding celebrations will be held over two days. After the church ceremony on October 12, the princess’s grandmother Queen Elizabeth II will host a reception at the castle before dinner that evening at the Royal Lodge Windsor.
An afternoon party will take place on the Saturday.
