However, Great British Bake Off contestant Rahul Mandal got into a spot of bother with judge Paul Hollywood.
Rahul’s picture took a wrong turn and resulted in a “rubbery” coating.
GBBO judge Paul took one bite and refused to eat the rest while warning his fellow judge Prue Leith.
Paul noted: “Now, there’s obviously been serious issues with this chocolate mixture.
“There’s obviously a bit of a rush near the end. It’s got a nice shine to it though.”
Prue pointed out: “This is nearly as dark as that first one. And as rubbery!”
Taking a mouthful of Rahul’s cake, Paul choked: “Hmm, you can’t eat that chocolate coating! It’s too rubbery!”
Marking each cake, Paul continued: “This one [is the worst].
“Rahul, you didn’t cover the whole cake with the chocolate mixture and it was a bit like rubber.”
Fans of the show instantly took to social media following Paul’s remarks.
One viewer tweeted: “I mean, I know it’s the semi-final but I’d burst into tears if I got the critiques from Paul he just dealt out, especially to Rahul #gbbo @Channel4GBBO.”
“What is with Paul Hollywood being a f**king pr**k tonight! Leave Briony and Rahul alone #GBBO,” fumed another.
A third added: “Whoa - Paul was rather critical of Rahul, there. I know that is his job, but still... damn. #GBBO.”
“Does Paul wanna ease off Rahul, poor lads just slaved away baking for five hours #GBBO,” said another.
A fifth snapped: “Paul Hollywood is absolutely CANCELLED after speaking to Rahul like that #GBBO.”
The semi-final episode tasked the bakers with creating dipped madeleines, the "cake of the seven veils" and a French patisserie selection.
Briony Williams was the ninth baker to leave The Great British Bake Off tent.
Visibly emotional, host Sandi Toksvig tearfully announced: “So my job now is to be completely professional and not cry at all.
“It’s tricky, because we are so fond of all of you and the person who is going home has been a complete force of nature in this tent.
“And I’m afraid the person not going through to the final is Briony.”
The Great British Bake Off concludes next Tuesday on Channel 4 at 8pm.
