Animal Control Officer Laura Bowen was on call at a home when she noticed the elderly woman who lived there did not have any food.
Her daughter, who was her main caregiver, had recently died.
Bowen contacted Meals on Wheels and they were able to give her food.
It was also her 77th birthday so Animal Control officers went a step farther, buying her her favorite- carrot cake.
They also checked in on her every day until she moved to Albuquerque to be with her other daughter.
