GRAND BLANC, MI — Iesha Suggs started her business out of her home, serving up dishes such as salmon and shrimp penne pasta with broccoli and decadent desserts and cakes.
On Jan. 1, Suggs’ birthday, she will open a space that will include a kitchen to make her creations and an area for customers to pick up their orders.
Suggs Sweet Treats and Eats will be located at 11236 S. Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc inside Frank’s Party Store.
Some of the menu offerings will include various salads, seafood pasta, tacos and potato bowls, which includes cut potatoes with different toppings like bacon, cheese, shrimp, onions, peppers and chicken. Sweet treats will also be available such as cheesecake cupcakes, brownies and cookies.
Suggs has been cooking for many years, but in 2014 she began cooking for other people. She soon obtained her culinary arts and food management degree from Mott Community College.
However, when it comes to her custom cakes, she’s self-taught.
Suggs jokes that she graduated from YouTube University, which taught her the craft of making extravagant cake creations.
“With the cake - my favorite part is the decorating part, like getting all those details out, and with the food, I really like the start to finish, from going to the grocery store and plating,” Suggs said.
Drip cakes, and a half unicorn and half Trolls cake are some of her favorite creations so far.
“Everything I do is made with love. I don’t just do it for the money,” Suggs said. “I actually enjoy cooking and baking.”
