CLEVELAND, Ohio — The sale of an outpatient surgical facility in Beachwood was the most expensive real estate transaction so far this year in Cuyahoga County.
The Nashville-based Montecito Medical paid $58.3 million for the Beachwood Medical Center on Chagrin Boulevard in April, according to county property records. The 69,800 square-foot facility is operated by a company owned by Lake Health and University Hospitals.
Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer compiled from records the five most expensive real estate transactions that recorded sale prices with the county between January and May.
Warehouses in Bedford Heights and Cleveland used as “last mile” delivery stations for Amazon also ranked near the top of the list. So did the recent sale of SouthPark Mall in Strongsville, which changed hands in April for $57.7 million.
Rounding out the top five was the recent purchase of more than 200 acres in Brook Park that was once home to Ford’s Cleveland Engine Plant No. 2. The auto giant sold the land and facility to a venture between Weston Inc., DiGeronimo Cos. and Scannell Properties.
In addition to housing, those in the real estate industry have said industrial sites and warehouses have remained attractive to developers and investors, even during the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
