Baking with Meghan! Duchess contributes a lemon cake recipe to charity cookbook - amid reports she is set to relaunch The Tig
Meghan Markle has shared her recipe for a lemon cake with a charity cookbook set to be released later this year.
The Duchess of Sussex, 41, who is currently living in her $14 million mansion in California having stepped back from royal duty, used lemons picked fresh from her own garden to make the treat for World Central Kitchen in March 2021.
And in a post shared on the royal's Archewell website this week, the couple announced she has contributed the recipe to The World Central Kitchen Cookbook: Feeding Humanity, Feeding Hope.
The organisation - run by their friend, Spanish chef Jose Andre - works globally 'using food to empower communities and strengthen economies' by providing hot meals to people in need around the world.
Jose is a personal friend of the Sussexes - as well as appearing on the first episode of the couple's podcast, alongside other prolific figures like Sir Elton John - the chef took part in Meghan Markle's recent birthday campaign. Called 40x40, the initiative called on 40 of her friends to give 40 minutes of their time to help mentor women who lost their jobs due to Covid.
According to the post on the Archewell site, the book is 'a captivating collection of stories and recipes from renowned chefs, local cooks, and friends of the global nonprofit'.
All author proceeds will support WCK’s emergency response efforts.
In March 2021, as well as sending the lemon oil cake, Meghan penned a letter to the recipients, writing: 'Sometimes we overlook how much it matters to express thanks and show appreciation.
'Perhaps we realize now more than ever that fundamental human moments, like enjoying a meal together, fill us up with more than just food (even if that food is delicious!).
'To that point, we hope you enjoy the offering we baked for you—a small token of thanks, from our home to yours.
'Our hope with this effort is to show that, when we all participate, even the smallest actions can have a ripple effect. Even individual actions can impact the whole of us.'
This is not the first time Archewell has worked with WCK. The non-profit was the first of Archewell's charitable partnerships, which was announced back in December 2020.
In 2021, WCK announced it had finished creating the first of the centres, which is in the Caribbean island nation of Dominica, with Archewell's support.
Today's announcement comes as it emerges Meghan could be set to bring back her wellness and lifestyle blog, the Tig.
According to the Mirror, the Duchess, 41, has official preliminary approval to revive the lifestyle website.
She launched the 'passion project' in 2014, but shut it down after getting engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.
Boasting tips on fashion, health and wellness, it is thought the website could rival Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop website, which is reportedly worth £200million.
Perhaps somewhat ironically, given the difficulties with her own family and her in-laws, it is thought the mother-of-two could also become an agony aunt on it.
Details from the US Trademark and Patent Office, show she may dole out 'commentary in the field of personal relationships'.
Set to go live as soon as next week, the website could become the latest money-making venture for the Duke and Duchess after they were cut off from royal funds.
Insiders say Meghan hopes to rival Gwyneth’s mega-successful site, which plys a lucrative trade in New Age wellness luxuries, such as vagina-scented candles.
Meghan founded The Tig, named after her favourite red wine, in 2014 while starring in legal drama Suits.
It featured tips on food, wellness, fashion, travel, fashion, the arts, design, and conscious living.
An avid foodie, she also shared recipes - as well as makeup and beauty tips, travel advice, and interviews with her celebrity friends, including tennis star Serena Williams and actress Priyanka Chopra.
In the the Sussexes' recent Netflix series, Meghan gushed about the website, saying: 'It wasn't just a hobby, it became a really successful business'.
