Oreo is about to serve up a new limited-edition flavor: the Oreo Blackout Cake cookie.
The new cookies, due in stores April 3 while supplies last, have two layers of creme between the classic cookie halves: a layer of chocolate cake-flavored creme on top of one of dark chocolate cake-flavored creme.
Oreo dished up the news on its Instagram and Twitter accounts Tuesday, a day after teasing that a new flavor was coming with an image of a blacked out cookie package over a chocolate layer cake background.
"This cookie features layers of Chocolate Cake and Dark Chocolate Cake flavor cremes wedged between two classic chocolate basecakes, giving you rich chocolatey flavor in every bite," Oreo said in a press release.

While many Oreo followers on Instagram were sweet on the idea of the new flavor, a few were blasé. "This is basically the ultimate chocolate cake one from a few years back," one person posted, referencing the Ultimate Chocolate Oreos, released in January 2022.
Others called out for the return of Blueberry Pie Oreos and the permanent availability of the Most Oreo Oreo cookies. Those cookies, which have a larger helping of creme filling with ground Oreo cookies mixed in, hit stores Jan. 30 and apparently are sold out in most places.
The new Blackout Cake Oreos will be available nationwide wherever the cookies are sold while supplies last.
