All the Cakes Royals Have Served at Their Weddings

You've heard all about the lemon-elderflower masterpiece Meghan and Harry had at their wedding, but what about the 500-pound ridiculousness Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had at theirs? Do enjoy this collection of absurdly luxurious royal wedding cakes. Maybe you'll get some ideas about your own? Just kidding. These cakes are not for us mere mortals. Enjoy though!

1 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, 2018

As mentioned, Meghan and Harry went with the untraditional choice that is lemon and elderflower. Royal wedding cakes are generally fruit-forward, so the floral-y addition was unexpected. Also different was the presentation: Instead of a massive, cleanly-iced monster, the cake — made by Violet Cakes's Claire Ptak — was unstacked and roughly finished, which makes it all the more Pinterest-worthy, tbh.

3 Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, 2005

There are no pictures of the final product that was Charles and Camilla's wedding cake, but it was, indeed, a fruitcake, and it was made by the delightful woman you see here: Etta Richardson. Per Etta, this was exactly the kind of cake served at the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall's reception.

4 Prince Charles and Princess Diana, 1981

These two reportedly served 27 (!) cakes at their wedding. Twenty-seven cakes! This bad boy was the showstopper, though, and it was a 5-foot-tall — wait for it — fruitcake.
