Costco has stopped selling its popular half-sheet cakes in stores across the US, the company originally confirmed in a Facebook post

In May, Costco posted a video on Facebook advertising the option to buy cakes for graduates, which included the addendum, "Please note: Half-sheet cakes are currently not available to order or customize."

In a statement to to Delish, Costco confirmed that the half-sheet cakes are not available in any US locations and there are currently no plans to bring them back. Customers have the option to purchase a 10-inch round cake instead.

"We are focusing on our smaller 10 'White & 10' Chocolate Cakes that seem to be resonating with our members," Costco said in the statement.

Costco sheet cakes are one of the more beloved bakery items sold in the warehouse chain. Business Insider once interviewed a Costco fanatic who held his birthday party in a Costco food court and had a Costco sheet cake complete with the chain's logo, a service usually reserved for employees who have been with the company for 25 years.

Fans of the bakery item expressed their disappointment with Costco's announcement in the comments of the initial Facebook post.

"PLLEEEEEEEEEASSE bring back the half sheet cakes!!," one user wrote. "Best cakes ever! Worth the price of membership on its own! Birthdays are disappointing without one!!"

Costco did not immediately return Business Insider's request for comment.
