Used cars from the “neighborhood” - Sandhill Sentinel

Value Auto Sales offers used vehicles that their neighbors are proud to own and will be celebrating four years of business in August. Danny Crouch buys used vehicles from individuals who are trading-in for different models and from retirees. When looking to trade-in a vehicle, Crouch said they will purchase a quality used car for a minimum of $500 more than a dealer will allow in trade-in value.

“We buy good stuff, because we want to sell good stuff,” Crouch said.

Donna Calhoun is the owner and an active partner of Value Auto Sales and has over thirty years of customer service experience. Most vehicles require outside financing and for a limited time, Value Auto Sales is offering a discount of $200 off toward the purchase of a vehicle when a customer mentions their advertisement on Sandhills Sentinel.

“We don’t fit the stereotypical car salesman. I am a mother, grandmother and want to see my neighbors driving in something as safe as I’d want my for my children,” Calhoun said.

Value Auto Sales is located at 11517 US Hwy 15-501 in Aberdeen and is open Monday through Friday from 10 to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 to 3:30 p.m. They can be reached at the office at (910) 638-8278 or by cell phone at (910) 585-1753.

All vehicles are North Carolina State inspected, and they offer warranties. The lot currently has a wide selection of detail-cleaned cars, mid-sized trucks and full-size trucks.

Crouch has over 20 years of experience in the automotive arena and “knows vehicles,” and this is a mainstay of how the business was built, along with “word-of-mouth” referrals.

During the first month of quarantine under COVID-19, there was a lack of business, but they are now back at “close to normal.” A faction of normal is when people still drive from out of town to buy a used vehicle from their lot.

Overcoming obstacles is what Calhoun recently experienced and said that she could not have overcome without her friend and business partner, Crouch. She had a stroke in 2017 and had to learn how to walk, read, type, do everything all over again.

“I feel so blessed and feel like God saved me to be a grandmother,” Calhoun said as she shared a photo of toddler Claire. “I am Meme. They are in Huntersville, and with COVID-19, I can’t go see anyone, so come see me and buy a car.”
