Orange County’s most expensive home lists for $68 million in Newport Coast - OCRegister

The most expensive home for sale in Orange County is a contemporary Mediterranean-style estate on a nearly 1-acre hilltop in Newport Coast, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Its asking price? A whopping $68 million.

Located in the guard-gated Crystal Cove community, this 18,717-square-foot house at 15 Del Mar was built in 2017 and has six bedrooms, 13 bathrooms and an open floor plan designed for seamless indoor and outdoor living.

“An 80-mile wide panorama of ocean, coastline and city lights unfolds before you from every major room,” the listing reads.

It also lists a gym, home theater and sauna among the property’s interior features.

Outside, the house shares manicured grounds with a guest house, a central courtyard with an outdoor fireplace and a water feature, and a negative edge swimming pool with built-in lounge chairs.

Nearby, there’s a sunken outdoor lounge area with a fire pit and built-in seating.

The property is capped off with 6,800-square feet of garages for more than a dozen cars.

Rob Giem of Compass holds the listing.

The house likely could make the short list of priciest home sales for 2020. In 2019, the top spot went to an 18,868-square-foot Mediterranean-style “smart home” in Newport Coast that sold for $38 million. It had listed for $45 million.
