With an incredible 85 years of history behind it, the Chevy Suburban is the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, entering an all-new twelfth generation back in December. Now, we’re taking another look at the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, this time with a heavy-handed approach to the configurator to create the most-expensive 2021 Suburban that we can.
First things first, we’re starting our build with the High Country trim level, the new range-topper for the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban lineup. Starting at $73,595 (with destination), High Country models are equipped with the naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 L87 as standard, producing 420 horsepower, 460 pound-feet of torque, and connecting to the GM 10-speed automatic transmission.
Next, we’re adding in 4WD, which bumps pricing up to $76,595 (including destination). From there, we can start tacking on the options, starting with a Premium paint color. Iridescent Pearl Tricoat is the most expensive option here, offered at $995.
Picking the Packages is also easy. We’re going with the Premium Package, which is priced at $4,605, and includes a long list of extras, including the Advanced Trailering Package, Max Trailering Package, Adaptive Cruise Control, Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Trailer Side Blind Zone Alert, and a whole lot more. The Premium Package also includes much of the content offered with the other packages, and is definitely the most expensive single option here.
As for the exterior options, we selected new 22-inch wheels, the most expensive of which are $1,995. We are also adding in an Illuminated Black bowtie emblem ($450), an Illuminated Chevrolet mirror emblem ($135), and the Highway Safety Kit ($95).
Interior options are plentiful, so we’re going all out by adding in the Rear Seat Media System ($1,995), center console lockable storage box ($195), all-weather floor liners for all three rows ($295), a front window shade ($135), vertical cargo net ($70), a retractable cargo shade ($260), and collapsible cargo area organizer ($145).
In total, our most-expensive 2021 Chevrolet Suburban configuration includes $995 for the Premium paint color, $4,605 for the Premium Package, and $5,770 for other selected options, bringing the grand total to $87,965 (including destination).
Critically, this closely matches pricing for our most-expensive 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe configuration, which also comes in the range-topping High Country trim with 4WD, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint, the Premium Package, optional 22-inch wheels, and other identical options. However, there are still some small differences between the two, and the final pricing for the Tahoe configuration comes in at a slightly lower $85,180 (including destination).
As a reminder, the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, as well as the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2021 GMC Yukon, and 2021 Cadillac Escalade, will be produced at the GM assembly facility in Arlington, Texas. Deliveries will begin shipping this month.
