One mom was inspired by a cake she saw at Coles & Co. grocery store, but when she tried to make it at home, the reality just wasn't as good as the expectation.
We've all seen those videos on Facebook and TikTok –the ones where cakemakers decorate cakes like hamburgers or tennis shoes. At the back of our minds a thought circles about, "I bet I could make that. It doesn't look so hard." The professionals in the videos make it look easy because that's how good they are. The reality is that we are several cake-decorating workshops and hundreds of practice cakes away from making anything near these masterpieces. That didn't stop this Australian mom from trying, though.
That's the spirit!
Betty –we've changed her name to protect her identity– saw the fondant covered unicorn cake at the store and tried to make one at home as reported by The Sun. After whipping up a cake mix and adding some frosting, she noticed that things weren't going quite as expected. A couple of Toblerone chocolate triangles for ears, and the horn –we aren't sure what she used to make the horn– looks a bit floppy.
The DIY baker saw the funny side of things and decided to share her creation with the world via the Coles & Co. Facebook group. We're hoping that she'll keep trying. Cakemaking takes lots of practice before bakers get the results they're looking for. So no worries if you fail.
