OK, this is officially my new favorite college football-themed wedding trend. Recently, we’ve seen Alabama fan grooms getting duped by their new wives when they cut their Bama wedding cakes. You see, what looks like a Crimson Tide cake on the outside is actually filled with an SEC rival’s colors inside.
This Alabama icing filled with LSU purple-and-gold cake is the latest example, from newlyweds Johnny and Bekka Campbell:
In 2015, we saw it happen to Bama fan groom Mike Portillo, orchestrated by his LSU bride Alexa DuBois:
And that same year, Florida grad Amanda Sabin filled her groom’s aggressive Alabama cake with orange-and-blue inside:
“I called the cake baker and said, ‘Do whatever Rob wants you to do with the cake but make sure the inside is orange and blue,’” Sabin said via ABC News . “And do not let him know about it.”
“They were screaming and yelling and cheering,” the bride said of the couples’ loved ones. “His friends immediately broke out in the Alabama fight song, and my friends immediately responded with the Gator chant, and it was just wild.”
Stay woke, future Alabama grooms. You just might be next.
