The 50 most expensive homes sold in Central New York in 2020. (Hint: You’ll want a boat) - syracuse.com

The coronavirus pandemic caused an unusually hot seller’s market in the Syracuse area in 2020.

Fewer houses went up for sale, but buyers still took advantage of historically low interest rates to snatch them up at high prices.

The median sale price in Central New York in November was $170,000 — a 19% increase over November 2019, according to the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors.

The most expensive real estate in the region this year was, not surprisingly, on water. The top homes were on Skaneateles Lake. A 3,600-square foot home on Lake Ontario, in Oswego County, made the list this year. Another top sale was on Cazenovia Lake, in Madison County.

Syracuse.com updates the latest residential and commercial home sales in Central New York each week. Search sales from 2017 to 2020 in Cayuga, Madison, Onondaga and Oswego counties.

The 13,672-square-foot Skaneateles home sits on a 3-acre property on the east side of the lake. It has six bedrooms, five and a half bathrooms, six fireplaces and heated floors, according to a sale listing.
