To the editor:
The Ipswich Lions held their October meeting at the VFW in Ipswich on the 27th.
President Bob Sinclair presided over the meeting and introduced a new project: a very special call for used eyeglasses.
The community has been generous in the past in leaving used eyeglasses at the Lions eyeglass box located at the rear of the Our Lady of Hope parking lot.

The Lions are joining a corporate partner, Ora, in this service project. The goal is to accept 1,000 pairs of glasses before calendar year end. Ora has volunteered to clean, label, and prepare the glasses for shipment to the needy in South America. Ora will also provide shipping services.
Thirty percent of the goal has already been reached, an encouragement to all involved.
Lion member Jennifer Williams, also a part of the Ora management team, is coordinator for the project. President Bob Sinclair is adding his experience, encouraging other members to become involved.
Our community has always been a great source of glasses, and the Lions are counting on continued support.
Other Lion projects are in the works for the year ahead. Membership chair Umesh Bhuju is always interested in talking to those who have interest in community service while enjoying the fellowship Lions offer to all.
