According to these patrons, the cakes can only be found at certain locations across the US as part of a 'secret menu' - and are priced anywhere from $5 to $20 depending on the specific eatery that is selling them.

The cakes are also given out to employees in honor of big occasions like birthdays, with one staffer sharing a video of himself tasting the cake for the first time.

One McDonald's employee revealed that he was given a sheet cake in celebration of his birthday while filming a live review on his TikTok

'So I work at McDonald's and it was my birthday yesterday and I got a McDonald's cake,' he shared, while showing off his vanilla sheet cake.

'I've never had a McDonald's cake before and I know a lot of people haven't so I'm going to try it today and let you know what I think of it.'

As far as his review of the cake goes, he noted that it was 'pretty spongy' but looked quite 'flat', before continuing: 'It's a pretty good cake, I'm not even going to lie.

'The frosting is perfect on it. The cake doesn't taste bad. It's just like a normal cake. You know how cupcakes are better than cake? It's like a cupcake in a way. That might be stupid, but that's a McDonald's cake.'

One customer shared a video of herself pulling up to the drive-thru at her local McDonald's, where she asks the staff member if they have any of the sheet cakes available.

'Yeah we have them,' the worker responds, before saying: 'Let me remember where they are. They're so good.'

The customer - who opted for a vanilla cake - then films her friends' reaction to the cake, adding in her caption that she'd give the flavor a 6/10 rating.

While the cakes are not listed on the chain's official menu, they can be found on its website with two different flavor options: Ronald Birthday Cake Chocolate and Ronald Birthday Cake White.

TikTokers went to social media to share their utter shock and disbelief at learning that McDonald's offers cakes

The intriguing food item has a framed picture of Ronald McDonald juggling, on white frosting.

While no price is given for the cakes, the website does list nutritional information, revealing that a serving size of the cake is 300 calories, and it contains wheat, egg, milk and soy.

TikTok was in a sharing frenzy this week, as followers were shocked, and in utter disbelief that the cake has been around this whole time.

One stunned customer wrote: 'McDonald's has cake?? I feel like I'm in a parallel timeline or something.'

Another follower needed time to process the good news: 'I COULD'VE BEEN GETTING CAKE AT MCDONALDS ALL THIS TIME?!'

A third follower jokingly wrote: 'I was not prepared for the screen-printed Ronald McDonald.'

One commentator couldn't believe this was under wraps all these years: 'I was today years old when I learned McDonald's has sheet cakes.'

A McDonald's spokesperson told, TODAY Food: 'All McDonald's owners/operators across the country have the option of ordering the cakes from their local distribution center for employee or customer celebrations.

'Occasionally, restaurants decide to let customers purchase the cakes, but they're not on the official menu, and you won't find them at all locations.'
