Police Say Man Used Puppies to Lure Children to Home So He Could Expose Himself: 'Psychopathic Pervert' - PEOPLE

Police arrested an elderly South Florida man Wednesday who they allege was using a litter of puppies to lure kids into his home.

Alberto Nunez-Arias, 75, was arrested and charged with one count of lewd or lascivious exhibition after an 11-year-old girl recently told her church group that the man exposed himself and asked her to touch him last year.

An arrest affidavit reviewed by PEOPLE shows Nunez-Arias is being held without bond until his first appearance in court. The 75-year-old has also been ordered not to contact the young victim or come closer than within 500-feet of the victim’s residence, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office affidavit.

Chief Deputy John Budensiek described Nunez-Arias to local news outlets as a “psychopathic pervert” and as "somebody that would lure kids in and use animals to satisfy their own sexual appetite,” according to local WPTV and WPBF.

The officer said at a news conference that the young girl had originally purchased a puppy from Nunez-Arias, who was known to breed animals inside his trailer home. When the puppy ran back to the man’s house, she followed and went inside, where Nunez-Arias allegedly began to massage her shoulders without permission before exposing himself and asking her to touch him, according to Budensiek.

"She said 'no' and he said 'Please, I’m a lonely man," Budensiek recounted.

The girl didn’t tell anyone about the alleged incident until a church meeting about sex trafficking took place earlier this month. Budensiek alleged that Nunez-Arias had threatened to kill the girl’s father if she had spoken out.

Nunez-Arias initially denied the allegations, according to police. "Eventually he said, 'Oh yes, I was drunk and my pants just fell down,' " Budensiek told reporters.

Budensiek said police are investigating whether Nunez-Arias has victimized others over the years.

"He's been in the neighborhood for 14 years," Budensiek said. "There could be victims that are adults now. We don't know that."

A total of 28 animals — 14 dogs, seven cats, and seven chickens — have been recovered from Nunez-Arias’ home in recent days and taken to the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast in Palm City, Fla.
