Situated along the water and just a few minutes from Interstate 10, the Jourdan River Steamer in Hancock County has long been known for their seafood-driven menu and laid back atmosphere.
Their plates, platters and unique specials have guests driving in from as far away as Texas and Florida to have dinner in tiny Kiln, which is about 15 minutes away from Bay St. Louis.
Owners Hank and Lori Plauche are fixtures at the Steamer, where there's a large dining area for big parties and a unique bar that resembles the interior of the restaurant that existed a few hurricanes ago.
The Plauches rebuilt the restaurant from the ground up after it was basically destroyed during Hurricane Isaac in 2012. They reopened in 2018.
And this year, the chef has made something special to celebrate Mardi Gras revelry.
For a limited time, guests can order a slice of king cake cheesecake after finishing their snow crab, royal red shrimp or other dinner menu specialties.
A tall layer of fluffy cream cheese filling is stuffed between a thin layer of cinnamon pastry and topped with classic purple, green and gold sugar.
If you want to try the Steamer's Carnival concoction, book a reservation now before the end of the season.
