The Super Bowl is less than 24 hours away and while our hometown Detroit Lions aren't in the big game, fans are trying to cope. Many loyal fans have been grieving since the team's upsetting 34-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, keeping the Lions from Sunday's big game.
But it appears some fans are healing their grief and being comforted with cake. Across several Facebook groups, posts are being shared about a cake sold at some Meijer stores. The cake is a sheet cake decorated with white, Honolulu blue and gray frosting plus football decorations.
It appears the cake is geared toward — what else — the Super Bowl, though it's not indicated on the cake.
But you won't find Kansas City Chiefs or San Francisco 49ers on the cake or the respective team's colors. Instead, the writing on the cake is "Whoever vs. Who Cares."

And below that, according to a photo the Free Press found in a search on Facebook, the cake is decorated with "Let's go Lions!" with the Detroit Lions logo.
It's unclear which stores have or are decorating the cakes. Not all stores have them and Meijer said "individual bakeries are getting creative with cake designs." The stores were also taking special requests.
Julia Kerrigan was one of those customers who made a special request. She ordered a cake with the specific wording thinking it would be special to surprise her Lions fan husband Shaun. The Kerrigans are hosting a small Super Bowl party with family and friends. On Tuesday, Kerrigan ordered the cake, which cost $16.99, at the Taylor Meijer store.
"I've been seeing shirts and stuff across social media ("Whoever vs. Who Cares") regarding the Lions and Super Bowl," Kerrigan of Taylor, said. "I thought maybe I could have this made into a cake and provide moral support to my husband. He's a Lions fan and he was so bummed, like everyone. "When she picked up the cake on Friday morning at the Taylor Meijer bakery, Kerrigan said the employees greeted her with "You're the famous one" and "We love this cake."
"It came with a blue border and I wrote in the instructions if you can add the footballs," Kerrigan said. "It's super cute ... they added their little touches to the cake."
The Free Press reached out to several stores, some had the cakes and some didn't. A Southgate store had several cakes on Saturday but sold out.
