Lost recipe looking for its owner, Zachary police helping | News - The Advocate

Zachary police are trying to reunite a lost recipe found on the streets of the city with its owner and possibly bereft baker, according to the department's Facebook page.

“What looked like a piece of litter was actually a lost recipe in the roadway on Avenue A at East Central,” the police department said. “We hope sharing the recipe here helps get it back to its original owner!”

The recipe is for a chocolate-covered cherry cake and starts out with a dark fudge or devil's food cake mix. The cherry-pie filling comes next, along with eggs and almond extract.

After the cake is baked and still warm, a glaze of sugar, butter, whole milk and semisweet chocolate chips is poured on top. If diners can give it 20 minutes, the glaze will become firm, the recipe says.

If anyone recognizes this recipe, contact Zachary Police at (225) 654-9393.
