Rocco finally has the cake tribute he so richly deserves.
In honor of Warriors star Klay Thompson's 28th birthday Thursday, the Warriors presented him with a very special treat: A cake shaped like his beloved pet bulldog Rocco.
The cake, made by Pretty Please Bakeshop in San Francisco's Inner Richmond, was obviously a huge hit with players and staff alike.
"I just told Klay it's the greatest birthday cake I've seen in my life. I didn't know they could make cakes like that," coach Steve Kerr told the Mercury News. "How do you cut into that? I don't even think Klay will be able to look at anybody cutting into Rocco like that."
Baker Alison Okabayashi, co-founder of Pretty Please Bakeshop, creates all of the Warriors' custom birthday creations. She was first employed by the team after making a cake for the young daughter of the team's director of basketball administration. The cake was so impressive, they've been calling on Okabayashi for the last few years every time a Dubs birthday rolls around.

"I'm a fan, I was before we started doing all of this, so we just kind of do our research and find out what we can," Okabayashi told SFGATE last year. "It might be something about the players' life or their college... Sometimes it's just something we might get a kick out of based on what we know about them from interviews and social media."
For the last three years, Pretty Please has made a Rocco-themed cake for Thompson (you can see all the Rocco designs in the gallery above). The adorable designs aren't plastic models; they're crafted by hand out of sugar-gum paste.
"I love them all for different reasons,"Okabayashi said. "That's kind of the beauty of custom designs. You can fall in love with any of them for different reasons."
