Nothing exceeds like excess…
Sure, weddings are about love, togetherness and the joining of two families, but they’re also a great opportunity to flex a little.
You want to look great – that’s a given – but what about the cake? That’d better be pretty special too.

A Dhs55 million pair of shoes are coming to Dubai (yes, really)
Dubai brides will find a little inspiration along those lines at this weekend’s BRIDE show at Dubai World Trade Centre. There, celebrity baker Debbie Wingham is set to unveil a truly over-the-top cake.
She’s not revealing too much quite yet, but Al Arabiya reports that the cake will be worth US$1 million (Dhs3.67m).
Think diamonds, edible pearls, and thousands of iced flowers.
Wingham is in the UAE already, working in the Raffles Dubai kitchen to get her creation ready. She’s shared a couple of hints as to what’s going on:
Some of the 2000 flowers and 1000 pearls already applied to the cake – and that’s not even with it finished.
From the looks of all those trays, it’s going to be big. Wingham says in the caption for this shot that Wolfgang Wagenleitner, Raffles Dubai’s pastry chef, made the cakes themselves. Wingham is in charge of turning them into something spectacular.
Wingham is definitely building the hype. And we agree, Dubai does look absolutely gorgeous.
Does her name sound familiar? Well, Wingham designs clothes and footwear as well as cakes. In October last year we covered a Dhs55 million pair of shoes she brought to Dubai.
If that’s any hint as to what this cake is going to look like, we can expect some serious sparkle.
BRIDE runs from3.30-10.30pm on February 7-10, at Dubai World Trade Centre. It will then move to Abu Dhabi, running the same hours from May 9-12 at the Abu Dhabi Naitonal Exhibition Centre.
