A luxury Beverly Hills estate is this week’s most expensive new listing, even though its price was slashed by a whopping $40 million, to $95 million.
Billionaire bargain hunters, take note. This Beverly Hills estate has had its price slashed by a whopping $40 million.
However, that doesn’t mean this mansion is cheap—by any stretch of the imagination. Listed for $95 million, the luxury residence is still the week’s most expensive new listing on realtor.com®—even with a 30% discount.
Known as the Wallingford Estate, the huge home, on 5.2 acres, first became available in 2018, and topped our list of priciest properties at the time.
Back then, the price tag was a jaw-dropping $135 million. With no takers at that hefty sum, the price was slashed to $110 million last year, before disappearing from the market for a bit.
Now the estate, which claims to have the largest zero-edge pool in Beverly Hills, has floated back on the market with a lowered ask.
The mansion is owned by Los Angeles developer Gala Asher, the Wall Street Journal reported in 2018. He designed the estate on spec, after purchasing the property for $22 million in 2016.
Prior to Asher's work, a 1990s-era mansion sat on the property. It was built as a replica of Marie Antoinette's chateau at Versailles, Le Petit Trianon, according to the WSJ. Asher modernized the chateau-style exterior, and demolished some aspects of the home, while building anew in others, adding improvements, such as three elevators, a salon and spa, cinema, and a wine cellar.
The lavish spread includes 12 bedrooms, 24 bathrooms, and 38,000 square feet of living space. Eye-popping amenities include an indoor sports complex with basketball, pickle ball, a gym, boxing ring, sports lounge, and a bar.
The house is secure and private, and both of its entrances can only be accessed from private, guarded streets. It was built for owners in the habit of entertaining crowds. Other features include a 5,000-square-foot guest penthouse, a caretaker's house, two-bedroom guardhouse, and a 10-car garage, as well as parking for 80.
Along with a lakelike pool, grassy spaces, its outdoor lounge and dining areas look out to Beverly Hills views.
If this doesn’t seem to be quite enough room for you, additional properties on private streets are also available for purchase separately, the listing description notes.
Ginger Glass with Compass holds the listing.
