Tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios celebrated his 28th birthday on Thursday and was over the moon when he saw the cake girlfriend Costeen Hatzi had made for him.

The 23-year-old WAG went all out with a tall, blue cake covered in candles and decorations, but the most notable feature was Nick's face splashed across the top.

Unable to wipe the smile off his face in the photos uploaded to Instagram, the athlete planted a kiss on his partner's cheek as thanks for the sweet treat. 

'Someone liked their cake' she wrote in the caption, alongside a blue heart emoji.  

It comes after Costeen revealed she was 'skeptical' of her tennis beau at first but was pleasantly surprised when they met. 

Nick's poor 'on-court reputation' preceded him, but Costeen gave him a chance and the lovebirds are still going strong a year later. 

'I didn't really follow tennis but I would hear media when they spoke, not badly about him, but his on court behaviour, so I was a bit sceptical, but it was completely fine,' Costeen told The Morning Show on Thursday. 

Nick has smashed racquets, abused fans and officials, smashed balls out of stadiums and insulted other players to gain his reputation as a tennis bad boy.

When asked if they were going to tie the knot anytime soon, or if a proposal is on the cards, Costeen said she was 'going with the flow'.

'If it happens, it happens, if it doesn't, it doesn't, I'm just going with the flow and we're happy and healthy and that's all that matters,' Costeen said.

The pair went Instagram official in December 2021.

In February last year, Nick called his girlfriend 'The One' and praised her for 'bringing out the best' in him in a series of heartfelt posts ahead of Valentine's Day.

When asked by a follower whether he knew she was 'The One' the first time he saw her, Nick replied 'Yes' with a lock emoji.
