One of the images appeared to show the cake featuring a depiction of Hamas spokesperson Abu Obaida, wearing an army camouflage jacket along with a red scarf over his face.

In the photo, an unidentified young boy is wearing similar clothing to Obaida and making a finger gesture similar to the terrorist.

Another picture shows cupcakes bearing the same image of Obaida, along with the Palestinian flag.

On Thursday, former Melbourne radio host Neil Mitchell and Perth Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas joined Nat Barr for Hot Topics, and slammed the cakes and costume.

“I think it’s awful — it’s an indication of the nature of division in this country at the moment, the antisemitism we’re seeing,” Mitchell said.

“It’s tempting to sort of say ‘oh well, it’s a harmless prank’. (But) that sign, the raised finger, that was invented by ISIS (terror group Islamic State).

“They’re actually recognising a man who is the face of terrorism.”

Zempilas called the move a “shocking look” .

“It doesn’t matter what was behind the making or manufacture of this cake. It’s a shocking look. A terrible look,” Zempilas said.

“I’m pleased that people are speaking out against it. We do hold some democratic rights and freedoms here very close to our heart, (but) we’ve all sent the right message around this.

“No place for this in Australia.”

7NEWS.com.au has reached-out to the Sydney bakery.

According to a report in The Daily Telegraph on Thursday, NSW Premier Chris Minns slammed the images.

“Kids party’s should be innocent and fun, not hateful,” Minns said.

“Hamas is an evil terrorist organisation.”

NSW Opposition leader Mark Speakman said he thought the cakes were truly shocking.

“Instead of baked goods celebrating terrorists, we should be celebrating people in our community who are promoting a more cohesive society,” Speakman said.

Australian Jewish Group chief executive Robert Gregory also slammed the photographs.

“Dressing a child up as a terrorist, including with what appears to be a Hamas headband is reprehensible and a form of child abuse,” Gregory said.

“Islamic extremism and radicalisation of youth is not just a problem for the Jewish community. It’s a threat to all Australians.

“Australia has seen several recent incidents of Muslim youth allegedly stabbing or plotting to attack other Australians.

“Indoctrination starts at a young age and is similar to what is seen across the Middle East.”

Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au, Executive Council of Australian Jewry co-CEO Alex Ryvchin slammed the actions.

“It takes a rare kind of psychosis to want to teach infant children that Hamas terrorists are to be admired and emulated,” he said.

“Boys with normal parents will be celebrating with Batman or Real Madrid themes, which nurture an understanding of good versus evil, healthy role models and striving for excellence.

“This boy is being taught to look up to suicide bombers, rapists, and torturers of children no older than him. If this is what is happening in some Sydney homes, we should prepare for a generation of violent extremists.

“The parents and the baker who thought it was acceptable to glorify proscribed terrorists should be ashamed. The authorities should be aware of this incident.”
