I’ve just experienced a most excellent spring break. Here are my suggestions for one wonderful spring break.
Remember to tell your husband your birthday is coming up. That way he will remember to make your favorite German chocolate cake with homemade coconut pecan frosting (two batches).
Get the bikes out and take them for a run. Pump tires. Eat cake.
Celebrate a holiday during the break, such as Easter, so you can get lots of candy on sale the day after. Eat cake.
Have grandkids over for a visit, then a trip to McDonalds for ice-cream and then a trip to the discount movie. Open presents. Eat cake.
The next day, finish up whatever craft you were working on —for me it was knitted dishcloths — then take a grandchild to Taco Bell, and then watch a Scooby Doo movie on TV. Open presents. Eat cake.
The following day, go with several grandchildren to the Thanksgiving Point Museum of Natural Curiosity. Oh my goodness! I could spend a couple of days there. What creative minds came up with things that most intrigue children — like sending money from the tube into the bank vault, playing the drums, feeding the rabbits, climbing the monkey head, etc? They say there are 400 things to discover and do in that museum, and I believe they are correct. Open a present. Eat cake.
The following day, have your family members take you out to lunch because it really is your birthday. Help your sister with a math assignment so you feel you have done something useful over the break. What? No more presents? Buy some new make up for yourself. Eat cake.
Go to a movie and lunch with a grandchild and grandad and son. Eat frozen custard. Go to a movie with your spouse. Eat cake.
Realize you are finally out of cake. Go shopping and buy shoes because clothes in your regular size might not fit.
Get ready for the new work week. Remember you’ve had a terrific break. Now you are ready to get back to work, new shoes and all.
I don’t know about you, but that is just about as good as a one week staycation gets. Spend time with family. Open presents. Buy new shoes. Eat cake.
