Maryland's Eastern Shore is making an appearance on a popular foodie website.
But no, it's not for crabs or clams. This time it's Smith Island Cake. The cake is in a list of various famous cake desserts in the list on Delish titled "The Cake Everyone Was Obsessed With The Year You Were Born."
Smith Island Cake claimed the 2008-2009 time slot.
"In 2008, this East Coast staple received nationwide attention when it became Maryland's official state dessert," the Delish article states. "The Smith Island Cake, named after the island where the treat was invented, consists of eight to 10 thin layers of yellow cake, all frosted and covered with a fudgy chocolate icing."
