WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The royal baker is in town for the 2nd annual Azalea Festival Chef’s Showcase. Claire Ptak will be working in One Belle Bakery’s kitchen in Wilmington to prepare her dessert.
Friday afternoon, fans got to meet Ptak at the North Carolina Azalea Festival’s Meet and Greet at One Belle Bakery. She is famous for baking the royal wedding cake of Prince Harry and Mergan Markle in May 2018.
The Chef Showcase is a newer feature of the Azalea Festival that started last year. Ptak says she plans to make a honey comb cake with honey mousseline filling with a local sea salt and a chocolate salted caramel ganache.
“Cake is my favorite thing to do,” said Ptak. “I know it’s a dessert for tomorrow but, we are actually doing a very light, light version of a cake so its very spongy, moussy… not too filling after you eat a big lunch.”
Ptak will be preparing over 400 plated desserts for the chef showcase. The event will host four other notable chefs and the One Belle owner Anna Echols.
