St. Albans man accused of injuring store manager while stealing cake from Dairy Queen - WVAH

A St. Albans man is facing charges after he is accused of seriously injuring an employee while stealing a cake from Dairy Queen.

Craig A. Scott, 29, is accused of injuring a Dairy Queen employee who tried to stop him from stealing an ice cream cake Sunday in St. Albans, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

The complaint said Scott went into a Dairy Queen in the 700 block of Sixth Avenue in St. Albans and stole an ice cream cake. After stealing the cake, he left the store and the on-duty manager chased after him.

The manager caught up to Scott near an alley behind the store and attempted to get the cake back.

The complaint said Scott hit the manager multiple times in the face. The store manager suffered a fractured nose, a laceration above his eye, and other facial injuries.

After reviewing the store’s surveillance video, police identified Scott. The arrested him a short time later at a residence on Coal River Road in St. Albans.

Scott is charged with malicious wounding and shoplifting. According to the complaint, Scott has previously been convicted on multiple shoplifting charges.

He was taken to the South Central Regional Jail.
